When creating a mobile application, user experience (also known as UX) plays a major role in the project's success. However, it can sometimes seem difficult to implement. To help you out, let's take a look at 3 best practices for improving UX.

UX best practice 1: Use codes known to users

In the "good UX practices" family, the first rule for optimizing or improving the user experience of your applications is to use codes that are already familiar to them. For example, people using websites have become accustomed to clicking on the logo in the top left-hand corner to return to the site's home page. This is a well-known code, and it's a good idea to reuse it when creating a digital solution. As our expert Sophie Garyga says: " In UX, we don't necessarily always reinvent the wheel. We'll also draw inspiration from what's already been done on applications that work, that have won over users, and we'll use certain codes such as buttons and menu shapes that users are familiar with, so as not to lose them in new uses. It's also important to create an interface that's intuitive for the user, providing feedback to confirm that the action has been completed. For example: " When they click on a button, a loader will show them that their action or request is in progress, or information will pop up on the screen, telling them that their request has been taken into account. It's really reassurance elements, all along the user's journey, to confirm that his actions and his use of the site are in progress, and that his actions have been taken into account."

UX best practice 2: Work on the visual aspect

The first line of focus for digital applications and solutions, visuals are highly visible, yet sometimes too quickly overlooked. As our expert explains: " The second category for good UX design is everything to do with visuals. The fact of having a graphic interface that is visually attractive, that corresponds to trends and that adapts to the target we're trying to reach ". This work may seem long and hard, but it can generate a "wow" effect that will boost your application's performance. This is a tip to keep in mind when building a UX-compliant solution.

UX Best Practice 3: Improving application technology and performance

When we think of UX, we often tend to think of mock-ups or the graphic production of digital solutions. However, one point that is often underestimated, and which will change everything for the user, is the application's performance. Sophie Garyga comments on this subject: " The third aspect on which we can define good UX design is one we perhaps think less about. It's the technical and performance aspects of the application we're going to create. This is directly linked to subsequent development, but good UX design means screens that load quickly for the user, so as not to create frustration. It's going to be applications, sites that are totally secure for the user and that are also accessible to all users."
